At Blackpool Skip Hire, every skip we collect is the start of a process — not the end of one. Each skip load of Construction, Demolition & Excavated (C,D+E) waste that we sort, shred and recover means less of our local areas produced waste goes to landfill. That’s why we’re delighted to announce a major capital investment & impending improvement in our processing capability: a brand-new HAAS TYRON 2000XL QC waste shredder which is due to arrive onsite early August 2026.
A heavyweight built for tough material
The TYRON 2000XL is a slow-speed, twin-shaft shredder engineered specifically for the demanding mixed (C,D+E) waste streams that we handle each day – bulky timber, residual waste, rigid plastics & other unpredictable contents of a typical builder’s skip. Running at low speed with high torque, it tears through difficult and contaminated material that would stop a lighter machine, all while keeping wear and energy costs under control.
For our customers, that means a faster, more consistent route from skip to recovered product and a North Lancashire recycling operation with capacity to fulfill demand.
Why the “QC” matters: more uptime, less downtime
The standout feature of this machine is the Quick Change (QC) system. In high-throughput shredding, the components that take the most punishment are the wear parts — and traditionally, servicing them has meant long, costly stoppages.
The QC design solves this by completely separating the shredding unit from the drive section. Our engineers can access and exchange wear components quickly and safely, without ever disturbing the sensitive bearings, hydraulics or gearbox. The result is:
• Significantly reduced maintenance downtime
• Safer, simpler access to wear parts
• More predictable, plannable servicing
• Higher overall machine availability
In short, the shredder spends more time doing what we bought it to do — processing material — and less time out of action. That reliability flows straight through to the service we give our customers across Blackpool, the Fylde Coast and wider North Lancashire.
A genuine win for the environment
This investment isn’t just about capacity; it’s about diversion. Effective shredding is the gateway to better screening, sorting and separation downstream, which lets us recover a far greater proportion of every load. More material recycled as a recovered fuel product means less to landfill. It’s a meaningful step forward in our commitment to responsible waste management.
Thank you to CRJ Services Ltd
A machine of this calibre is only as good as the team behind it, and we’re grateful to have worked with CRJ Services on this project. Our thanks in particular to Ben McQuaid, Director at CRJ Services Ltd, whom has supported us throughout specification & negotiations.
CRJ are the UK and Ireland’s long-established HAAS TYRON specialists and their depth of service and parts support was a key factor in our decision. We look forward to a long and productive relationship with Ben and the whole CRJ team.
The work continues
Whilst we are awaiting our new HAAS TYRON 2000XL QC we have procured a hire HAAS from CRJ which is now fully integrated into our operation and already proving its worth. This machine is a clear signal of our intent: to keep investing in the people, plant and technology that make Blackpool Skip Hire the region’s first choice for skip hire and recycling.
