Ferrous Metals

There are two categories of alloys: ferrous and non-ferrous. Metals which contain iron in them are known as ferrous where compounds without iron are non-ferrous. The easiest way to separate ferrous from non-ferrous is with a magnet. Ferrous alloys are iron and iron-based steel, therefore, they are magnetic. Non-ferrous metals, such as copper and brass, are not magnetic.

Aluminum

This is commonly recycled scrap metal. You’ll find aluminum in your soft drink cans, window frames, bicycles and cookware and much more.

Recycling aluminium uses about 5% of the energy required to create aluminium!
